Toxic Torts
For many years, our firm has been extensively involved in defending clients in litigation alleging "toxic torts" and liability arising from chemical exposures. Our lawyers have broad experience in defending claims involving asbestos, silica, benzene, manganese, vinyl chloride, butadiene, hexavalent chromium, and other substances at the state, regional, and national levels. Each year, our attorneys have resolved thousands of such cases through voluntary dismissals, summary judgments, trials, and carefully crafted settlements. In our engagements in this area, we pursue strategies that seek to minimize the number of new lawsuits being brought against our clients and to substantially lower our clients’ costs of defense and indemnity.
We serve as national coordinating counsel for toxic tort and chemical exposure litigation for a number of clients, including The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Goodrich Corporation, and Illinois Tool Works Inc. In that role, our lawyers help to plan the national defense of toxic tort and chemical exposure cases, manage local counsel working on those cases, and then assist in the trial of those actions.
