Since the firm was founded in 1909, we have grown from four attorneys with offices on the third floor of a small office building in downtown Columbus, Ohio to a nationally recognized firm of approximately 375 attorneys with nine offices in Ohio, Washington, D.C., Texas, Pennsylvania, California and London.  Today, we are an Am Law 200 firm that provides strategic business and legal counsel to businesses, including multiple Fortune 500 companies, throughout the U.S. and around the world.

Our firm has been consistently recognized for providing exceptional client service and value to our clients.  Because we think it detracts from client service, there are no “origination bonuses” at Vorys and no single attorney gets “credit” for a matter or for a client.  Instead, we prioritize and reward working as multidisciplinary teams.  This practical, innovative and unique approach to practicing law ensures that our clients receive the benefit of our collective knowledge, experience and insights on each and every matter.

We have deep experience across numerous industries.  In each, we have developed new and innovative ways to help our clients develop solutions and achieve their goals.  It starts with understanding our client’s business. It continues by constantly building our knowledge base about our client’s business and understanding changes in our client’s needs and expectations. To that end, we happily embrace ways in which we can work with our clients to integrate our knowledge with the business needs of our clients.  Many of our lawyers have spent time through secondments and other arrangements working onsite for extensive periods of time in legal departments or otherwise collaborating with the legal and business teams of our clients, giving us first-hand experience and a healthy understanding of how our clients’ businesses function.
