41st Annual Ohio Environment, Energy and Resources Law Institute

Several Vorys attorneys spoke at the 41st Annual Ohio Environment, Energy and Resources Law Institute at The Ohioan Hotel & Event Center on March 19. 

Josh Eckert, an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and member of the firm's data center industry group, spoke as part of the panel "Plugged In: Balancing Data Demand and Environmental Stewardship in Ohio."  The session explored the potential benefits and impacts of data center development in Ohio, focusing on how rapid growth and AI-driven demand intersect with power and utility constraints, natural resource usage and environmental siting considerations.

Anna Sanyal, an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and member of the firm's energy, utilities, oil and gas subgroup, participated in "Ohio's New Fleet of Generation: Demand, Development and Deployment," a panel that provided an overview of future growing demand for electricity within Ohio, regulatory changes that have or could impact
construction of different types of power generation and sector-specific considerations for the construction of different types of power generation. 

David Edelstein, a partner in the Vorys Cincinnati office a member of the firm's environmental group, spoke as part of "Practical Procedures, Considerations and Ethics of Expert Engagement (Professional Conduct)," which offered a comprehensive overview of the process and practical application of Ohio’s Rules of Professional Conduct regarding confidentiality and client information protection when engaging consulting or testifying experts. 

Nat Morse, an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and member of the environmental group, served as the Planning Committee co-chair for the event.
