Suzuki Quoted in Construction Drive Story Titled "What Builders Need to Know about E-Verify in 2026”

Asafu Suzuki, a senior attorney in the firm’s immigration practice, was quoted in a Construction Drive story about Ohio’s new law that requires non-residential builders in Ohio to register and use the federal E-Verify program.  If a violation is found, the Ohio Attorney General will issue a Notice of Violation, which may include monetary penalties and debarment from state contracts.

The story states:

“Making a good effort toward following the law can help a builder in the long run, said Asafu Suzuki, a Columbus, Ohio-based senior attorney at law firm Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease. While penalties may seem harsh, they are targeted toward what she called ‘bad actors.’

‘Good faith compliance does tend to go a long way, especially as the laws are taking off and the state is also kind of learning as they go,’ Suzuki said.”
