Paige Quoted in Middle Market Growth on AI in Mergers-and-Acquisitions Deals
Bruce Paige, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and chair of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions (M&A) practice, was quoted in a Middle Market Growth article titled “Where Does AI Go From Here?”
The feature spoke with leaders in the mergers-and-acquisitions (M&A) field about how AI would change the field in the middle-market during the coming year. Paige predicted that AI will not decrease the need for M&A professionals in the immediate future but rather shape the skills those professionals require.
“In the next year or so, I think it’s more going to be utilizing existing talent to work with AI and become more efficient. To the extent that there are efficiencies created, these may, in the short run, help expedite deal timelines and even increase deal volume."
Paige discussed Vorys’ ongoing work with Stanford’s Legal Innovation Through Frontier Technology Lab (liftlab) to develop a deal simulator that can be used for considering scenarios regarding a deal in progress. He emphasized the role such tools can play in training less experienced associates.
“Training is a key area … Unless you have some level of M&A experience, that can be challenging, and that's where the AI-based training tools, such as a deal simulator, come in.”
