Hine Interviewed on Wrongful Conviction Podcast

Last year, Elwood Jones was granted a new trial.  Jones has spent nearly 30 years on death row for the September 1994 death of Rhoda Nathan in Blue Ash, Ohio.  However, he has consistently maintained his innocence and claimed that his November 1996 trial was fundamentally flawed.  (Read the full background of the case here.

Recently, Jones, David Hine, a partner in the Vorys Cincinnati office, and Co-counsel Jay Clark were featured on Wrongful Conviction: Episode #373 Jason Flom with Elwood Jones.  The episode focused on the history of the case and the evidentiary issues.

“There were a ton of tidbits, we'll say, that they learned, whether it was from interviewing staff about keys or things like that, that they just never ever followed up on,” says Hine. “…And they didn't ever report back that he had a negative Hepatitis B result where Rhoda Nathan had a positive result.”

Additionally, Jones discusses his time on death row and his efforts to prove his innocence.
