Mills Named Chair of OCMC Legislative Branch and Executive Branch Subcommittee

Frederick E. Mills, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and head of the firm’s government relations group, was selected to serve as the chair of the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission’s (OCMC) Legislative Branch and Executive Branch Subcommittee.  The Committee will be responsible for drafting recommendations on reapportionment issues, term limits and other legislative and executive matters.

The Ohio General Assembly established the Commission, consisting of 12 legislative members and  20 public members, including Mills. The Commission is tasked with developing recommendations to the General Assembly for improving and modernizing Ohio's Constitution. These recommendations will become law only if approved, first, by the General Assembly and, second, by Ohio voters.

Mills provides counsel on legislative and governmental matters to Vorys’ Ohio, regional, national and international clients. He is a registered lobbyist before the Ohio General Assembly, and represents clients in many industries, including retail, restaurant, technology, telecommunications, chemical and energy sectors, before the Ohio General Assembly, local jurisdictions and administrative agencies.

Mills began his work with the legislature as a page in 1967.  He also served as reading clerk, chief of staff, clerk and majority counsel for the Ohio House of Representatives, Ohio Superintendent of Banks and legislative assistant to former Ohio Governor James Rhodes.
