Overview

Reed is an associate attorney in the Vorys Houston office and a member of the intellectual property (IP) group.  Her practice focuses primarily on trademark and copyright law.  Reed’s practice involves counseling clients on trademark and copyright licensing matters, trademark prosecution and enforcement strategies, and auditing trademark portfolios to develop national and international filing strategies.  Reed is experienced in negotiating and drafting intellectual property agreements and contracts, including trademark licenses and coexistence agreements.  She also has experience conducting and analyzing legal due diligence regarding trademark, copyright, and patent assets in commercial transactions, including finance deals, mergers and acquisitions.  Reed’s practice also includes intellectual property litigation, particularly before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and she has experience advocating for clients in domain name dispute resolution proceedings before the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Arbitration and Mediation Center. 

Reed also has experience in brand protection and eCommerce and has assisted clients with the development and implementation of product distribution and enforcement strategies designed to protect brand value by controlling online sales.  Reed is a contributor for the Vorys Intellectual Property Updates page and Vorys IP Podcast.

Reed received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, where she was chief articles editor for Houston Business & Tax Law Journal and president of the Student Bar Association.  She was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, conferred by the faculty of the University of Houston Law Center.  Reed received her B.A. cum laude from the University of Houston.
