Update: Changes to IP Operations Worldwide

As part of our dedication to helping our clients stay up-to-date on the ever-changing landscape as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve compiled the following highlights of changes to patent, trademark, and copyright operations around the world.

As always, a complete list of countries may be found here.

Update Highlights

  • United States: The U.S. Copyright Office has extended deadlines for creators to register works to 30 days after the Office returns to normal business.
  • European Patent Office (EPO): With respect to the planned increase of fees scheduled to begin April 1, 2020, all fees that were due prior to this date but are paid within the allowed extension period will not be subject to the increased fee schedule.
  • World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO): All communication will be paperless for the foreseeable future.
