Law360 Article Profiles Vorys Attorney Kathleen Burtschi

Kathleen Burtschi, of counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, was profiled in a Law360 article titled “Veteran HUD Atty Jumps To Vorys.”  The article was about Burtschi’s 20 years of work at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and her move to Vorys’ HUD financing practice.

The article states:

“Burtschi worked primarily at HUD's Washington headquarters and developed an expertise on Federal Housing Administration loan closings. After spending the past four years working on the so-called LEAN program, which provides construction loan and refinancing assistance for nursing homes, senior care centers and assisted living facilities, she decided she wanted to experience housing issues from the other side of the table.

‘I really wanted to see what life was like on the lender side,’ Burtschi said. ‘I thought my experience could be valuable because I've learned what HUD wants.’

Burtschi joins one of the nation's leading HUD practices, with 13 attorneys specializing in advising lenders and borrowers in connection with HUD financing transactions. She said that her longtime professional respect for the team and its head Charles Bissinger was a determining factor in joining the firm.

‘Kathleen has extraordinary knowledge of HUD's multifamily and health care mortgage insurance programs and will contribute immediately to the continuing growth of our practice,’ Bissinger said.”
