Vorys Expands State and Local Tax Practice with Nicholas Ray

Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP is pleased to welcome Nicholas M.J. Ray as of counsel to its Columbus office.  Ray’s practice focuses on real property tax valuation disputes and appeals.

“We’re excited to bring our clients Nicholas’ many years of experience challenging increased tax assessments and advocating tax reductions,” said Scott Powell, chair of the firm’s tax group.  “He has been very successful in seeking reductions and saving money for clients throughout Ohio.”  This addition brings to ten the number of full time state and local tax professionals at Vorys.

Mr. Ray also has significant experience in other aspects of state and local taxation including personal property taxation and sales and use.  He has represented clients before county boards of revision, the Ohio Department of Taxation, the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and the Supreme Court of Ohio.  Ray is a Certified Public Accountant, chairs the Ohio State Bar Association’s Property tax subcommittee, and was named an Ohio Super Lawyer in Tax Law in 2010.  Ray received both his J.D. and LL.M in Taxation from Capital University Law School and his B.S.B.A. from The Ohio State University.
