Overview

Stephan is an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the Vorys eControl group.  His practice focuses on issues related to eCommerce, online brand protection and product diversion.  Stephan has experience litigating against unauthorized sellers in actions involving trademark infringement, counterfeiting, unfair competition, false advertising and related torts.

Notable experience includes:

  • Obtaining a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against a seller network of counterfeit goods on Amazon
  • Obtaining and enforcing judgments against unauthorized sellers, barring their sales of products that infringe various brands’ intellectual property
  • Successfully moving to compel an online seller’s compliance with a subpoena regarding product sourcing and obtaining an award of attorneys’ fees for the seller’s previous non-compliance

Stephan received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was a managing editor for the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, a Moritz Merit Scholarship recipient and the vice president of the Latino Law Students Association.  He received his bachelor’s of music from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
