Lauren A. Kickel

Lauren is an associate in the Vorys Houston office and a member of the intellectual property (IP) group.  Her practice consists of IP litigation with a particular focus in patent infringement. Lauren’s work in IP litigation has involved various technologies including software and mobile applications, medical products, personal products as well as apparatuses, systems and processes relevant to the energy industry. Lauren has experience preparing and prosecuting domestic patent applications concentrated in the area of mechanical devices.  Lauren’s patent prosecution clients have included those specializing in medical devices and the oil and gas industry.

Lauren has extensive prior work experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in upstream operations.  Formerly, she worked for a large oilfield service provider and super major oil company, primarily in the Gulf of Mexico where she provided office based and onsite engineering and operational support.

During law school, Lauren served as a judicial extern for Federal Magistrate Judge Frances Stacy in the Southern District of Texas.

Lauren has many certifications, including Mediator in the State of Texas certification, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) certification and a Trademark Clinic certification.

Lauren received her J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston and her B.S. in petroleum engineering from Marietta College.
