Overview

Alex is a scientific advisor in the Vorys Houston office.  He was an intern in the Vorys Scientific Advisor Patent Agent Internship Program. He experience is focused in technical fields including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, energy, and materials. Alex has drafted and prosecuted patents in a wide variety of technology areas, including polymer engineering, industrial lubricants, catalysis and reaction engineering, chemical process technology, bioconversion, upstream and downstream oil and gas technologies, carbon capture, and software technology (including machine learning). In addition to patent preparation and prosecution, Alex also supports work related to invalidity, freedom-to-operate, and other opinions, and supports patent litigation efforts.

Alex is an active member of the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association (HIPLA) and co-chair of the Patent Agents and Intellectual Property Managers Committee. He is also affiliated with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE).

Alex has conducted academic research related to matrix mechanics and tissue engineering of cardiovascular disease models. He has also conducted research related to biofuels engineering.

Alex received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University, graduating magna cum laude. Alex was awarded the Hightower Superior Award, given to recipients for their service and academics.
