Overview
Michel is an associate in the Vorys Houston office and a member of the firm’s intellectual property group. He focuses his practice on intellectual property protection and enforcement, with an emphasis on trademark and patent law.
Michel’s experience includes domestic trademark prosecution, clearance and counseling, as well as the development and management of trademark portfolios. He regularly prepares and responds to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office actions, conducts trademark searches and advises clients on registrability and risk. He also supports trademark enforcement initiatives, including brand protection and online enforcement efforts. His patent experience includes drafting and prosecuting design and utility patent applications, as well as advising on patentability.
In addition to his trademark and patent practice, Michel supports the intellectual property aspects of commercial transactions. His work includes drafting and revising intellectual property provisions in consulting, manufacturing, sales and marketing agreements, as well as preparing intellectual property assignment and licensing agreements.
Michel received his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he served as chief articles editor of the Ohio State Technology Law Journal and treasurer of the Black Law Students Association. He earned his B.S., magna cum laude, in industrial and systems engineering from Ohio University.
