Ray Quoted in Law360 Story Titled “Ohio Justices To Weigh Curbs On 3rd-Party Tax Complaints”
Nicholas Ray, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and leader of the property tax practice, was quoted in a Law360 story about the Supreme Court of Ohio’s decision to review conflicting decisions between Ohio’s Fifth and Tenth District Courts of Appeals regarding whether third parties filing complaints about property valuations is a violation of the Ohio constitution's uniform rule requirement.
Ray, who is representing apartment complexes whose valuations are being challenged by a third party, told Law360 that he is happy the Supreme Court is going to take up the matter.
The story states:
“‘This is a good result for [the apartment complexes] who have already spent considerable time and money having to battle the school districts and their strawmen, Mr. Bahorek and Mr. Gillis, to achieve the protections afforded them by the General Assembly in H.B. 126.,’ Ray said. ‘Anything that more quickly brings these matters to a close is a positive for all property owners.’
Ray referred to another case in which school boards challenged H.B. 126 before the Ohio Supreme Court and lost.”
