Nanotechnology is the study and use of very small materials and devices roughly in the order of one billionth of a meter - otherwise known as the nanometer. The earliest modern discussion of this technology was presented by legendary physicist Richard Feynman during his famous 1959 “There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom” lecture. Since then, there has been rapid development in the field both theoretically and in the real world, and concomitantly, an acceleration in the rate of patent filings in this area, especially in the last several years. Our attorneys can assist clients in the acquisition, litigation, and licensing of nanotechnology both in novel technology areas and applications as well as more established areas, including the following: atomic layer deposition, carbon fullerenes, manufacturing of nanostructures, nanoarrays, nanobio and nanomedical technologies, nanocapsules, nanoelectronics, nanofluidics, nanoparticles, nanoporous membranes, nanotubes, nanoscale devices, quantum well infrared photo detectors, scanning tunneling microscopes, semiconductors, and thin films.
