Connecting the Dots: Using the Courts and your own Initiative to Navigate the System

The Attorneys Guide to Defending Veterans in Criminal Court

Evelyn Lundberg Stratton,  of counsel in the Vorys Columbus office, authored a chapter in the book The Attorneys Guide to Defending Veterans in Criminal Court, published by the Veterans Defense Project.  The chapter, which she co-authored with Corey C. Schaal, is titled “Connecting the Dots: Using the Courts and your own Initiative to Navigate the System.”

The chapter highlights a number of way that the courts can assist veterans, including developing a wrap around project that connects veterans with state and federal resources, peer mentoring and in some cases pro bono counsel.  The chapter also highlights the success that Ohio has had implementing a wrap around project and some of the challenges that arose during the roll out of the program.
