Keller Quoted in Energy Law360 Story Titled “Ohio Supreme Court Squashes Fracking

John Keller, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office, was quoted in a Law360 story about the Ohio Supreme Court recent decision that local governments cannot develop local laws that attempt to regulate oil and natural gas exploration and development. The story was titled “Ohio Supreme Court Squashes Local Fracking Bans.”

The story states:

“Beck’s attorney, John Keller of Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease LLP, said the company is pleased, but not surprised, by the decision.

“Everyone understands that oil and gas development should be regulated; the only issue was which governmental agency performs the regulation. The law enacted by the Ohio General Assembly could not have been more clear that the state, not the local governments, regulate this industry. This is appropriate because the state agencies possess the expertise and capabilities to do a good job in that regulation,” Keller said.

Keller said the company has not decided whether to go forward with the project due to the drop in oil prices.”
