Benita Kahn, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and the chair of the technology and intellectual property group, was profiled in the Law360 Female Powerbrokers Q&A series. An interview with Kahn was published as a part of the series and included the following question:
How did you break into what many consider to be an old boys' network?
“Prior to going to law school, I worked for nine years in retail and sales. My last position was as a regional sales manager covering nine states in the Midwest, with three sales representatives reporting to me. In each sales position, I was the first woman hired for the position. I learned my lessons then to stay focused and develop expertise that is recognized. I also learned how to work and socialize with the men while maintaining integrity. I used these lessons and focused on making sure I was a substantive contributor to each committee position/leadership position that I was asked to take at Vorys.”
