Richards Wins Ohio State Alumni Award for Efforts to Help Underprivileged Students

Suzanne K. RichardsSuzanne Richards, partner in the firm’s Columbus office, is a recipient of the Ohio State Alumni Association’s 2011 Robert M. Duncan Alumni Citizenship Award. She received the award for her work in the Law and Leadership Institute (LLI), which creates opportunity for underprivileged students.  

“Suzanne’s tireless efforts on behalf of LLI over the last year have been absolutely critical to the success of this fledgling program,” said Kathy Northern, director of Ohio State’s Law and Leadership chapter. “She has devoted countless hours, at times in excess of 15 to 20 hours a week, to the LLI and to the students it serves.”

The Duncan Award is presented to alumni who have distinguished themselves in service to humanity and who have best exemplified the university's motto, "Education for Citizenship."  She is one of 11 Ohio State alumni who will be honored at the 53rd annual awards gala.

Richards is a member of the Vorys litigation practice group. She engages primarily in business and employment litigation. Additionally, Richards' experience includes class action litigation in state and federal courts. She has also worked with a national client for over 10 years, representing them in mediations and in arbitrations as part of their alternative dispute resolution program.

Richards received her J.D. summa cum laude from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1974, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif. She also was a member and the Issue Planning Editor for the Ohio State Law Journal.  In 2010, she received the Moritz College of Law Community Service Award.
