Vorys Welcomes Experienced Labor and Employment Partners to Pittsburgh Office

Vorys is pleased to announce that the firm has welcomed experienced labor and employment attorneys, Phillip Binotto and Jana Grimm, as partners in the firm’s Pittsburgh office.  The pair have decades of experience counseling clients from a variety of industries on a vast spectrum of labor and employment-related issues.

“Phil and Jana are well known as go-to labor and employment attorneys in Western Pennsylvania,” said Keith Zabela, the managing partner of the firm’s Pittsburgh office.  “Together they bring a wealth of labor and employment experience that will uniquely complement the experience of the attorneys based in our Pittsburgh office and across our firm’s seven other offices.”

Binotto has more than 40 years of experience counselling business clients in both traditional and non-traditional labor and employment matters.  He has successfully negotiated collective bargaining agreements with nearly every major labor union in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York and Ohio.  Binotto has experience in handling complex labor disputes, including issues relating to grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges, strikes, boycotts, hand billing, jurisdictional disputes, union representation elections, union decertifications, wage and hour class action suits and picketing.

“The Vorys labor and employment team is one of the best in the nation and has a reputation for keeping clients up to date on important developments and delivering superior client service,” said Binotto.  “Our clients will find those updates and the team’s resources extremely helpful.  In addition, I am looking forward to working with other Vorys lawyers to ensure each of our clients continues to receive the best possible client service.”

Grimm has decades of experience helping clients, from a wide range of industries, establish policies, procedures, and documentation regarding Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), employee discipline, Title VII, the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), human resources best practices, and business-related best practices.  In the event that an employment or other civil matter does end up in the courtroom, she is an experienced litigator in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

“Vorys has attorneys with experience across a wide variety of practice areas and industries.  I know these attorneys will be able to help our clients with their legal and business needs,” said Grimm.  “Vorys also has an outstanding reputation as a firm that uplifts women partners.  As such, I am very much looking forward to getting involved in the firm’s Women’s Network.”

Vorys has more than 45 lawyers practicing labor and employment law across the firm’s eight offices.  The team of attorneys encompasses a variety of functional areas who work together as a nationwide team for the firm’s clients.

“Our firm’s success in labor and employment law is a result of our strong employment counselors, sound labor attorneys, and deep knowledge of our clients’ industries,” said Mark Knueve, chair of the Vorys labor and employment group. “Jana and Phil will strengthen our existing team of attorneys who regularly provide day-to-day counseling and litigation support to clients across the United States.”
