Scrutton Elected to American Health Law Association’s Board of Directors

Vorys is pleased to announce that Suzanne J. Scrutton, a partner in the Columbus office and member of the health care group, has been elected by her peers to the Board of Directors of the American Health Law Association (AHLA – formerly the American Health Lawyers Association).  The AHLA is the nation’s largest, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the health care field with 13,000 members.

Scrutton has been actively involved in AHLA for a number years - most recently serving as the chair of the association’s Behavioral Health Task Force. In her role as chair, Scrutton led efforts to educate AHLA members from the various other AHLA practice groups on behavioral health issues nationwide.  Before taking on the role as chair, she previously served as the Task Force’s vice-chair of educational programming and its vice-chair of publications.  In addition to her service, Scrutton has published articles for the AHLA on behavioral health and Medicaid issues; and has presented with national Medicaid leaders at AHLA conferences.

Scrutton’s legal practice is focused on representing providers in the fields of long term care, behavioral health and developmental disabilities. She also has extensive experience with health care regulatory issues, benefit redesign, Medicaid reimbursement and regulations, as well as contract negotiations with various payor sources.  She also has over twenty years of experience in representing several statewide health care trade associations.
