Experienced Counsel Chaz Billington Joins Vorys as Partner

Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP announced today that Chaz Billington, an attorney with in-house and outside counsel experience, has joined the firm’s Cleveland office as a partner. Billington’s practice will focus on providing in-house legal counsel and HR leaders creative and pragmatic advice on a wide range of labor and employment matters.

“Chaz has served as assistant general counsel for labor and employment, as a VP of human resources, and as outside counsel for labor and employment professionals,” said Tony O’Malley the managing partner of the Vorys Cleveland office. “Having someone with a unique blend of in-house and outside counsel experience in our Cleveland office will be an important asset for our clients.”

Billington has more than five years of experience working as in-house labor and employment counsel and nearly a decade of experience working at law firms, including several years at Vorys. He has both litigation and counseling experience involving FMLA, wage and hour and discrimination issues. He is also versed in collective bargaining, labor relations, management and employee training, and HR-related issues associated with mergers and acquisitions.

“All of my experiences from across my legal career have led me back to Vorys,” Billington said. “I am looking forward to servicing a broad range of clients and industries and offering budget-sensitive and creative solutions to the complex labor and employment issues they face.”

Billington joins Vorys’ labor and employment group, which includes more than 45 lawyers. The group has experience across the country and routinely litigates class action and single-plaintiff matters from coast to coast. Vorys was recognized in the U.S. News and World Report/Best Lawyers 2019 “Best Law Firms” list as a tier 1 law firm nationally for labor and employment litigation. The Vorys labor and employment group was also recognized nationally for labor and employment law–management.

Billington received his J.D. summa cum laude from Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and served as a senior editor for the Cleveland State Law Review. He also served as a research editor for the Cleveland State Journal of Law and Health. He received his B.S. and A.A.S cum laude from the University of Akron.
