Pam Bresnahan, a partner in the Vorys Washington, D.C. office, was recently mentioned in a speech given by the American Bar Association's (ABA) President, Hilarie Bass. Bresnahan was mentioned for her role as chair of the ABA's Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary.
The Committee evaluates the professional qualifications of: Article III nominees to the Supreme Court of the United States, United States Circuit Courts of Appeals, United States District Courts and the Court of International Trade; and, Article IV nominees to the territorial district courts for the Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. The committee does not propose, recommend or endorse candidates for nomination to the federal judiciary, as doing so would compromise its independent evaluative function.
Under Bresnahan's leadership, the committee has vetted more than 60 judicial candidates since January 2017. Bass said, “none of our work is more important than the peer reviews we continue to perform on judicial nominees being considered for lifetime appointments by the Senate Judiciary Committee.”
