Lisa Pierce Reisz, a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the health care group, was included on Columbus Business First’s 2017 “People to Know in Cybersecurity” list. According to the paper, individuals on the list “are front and center in their industries.” Reisz focuses her practice on health information technology issues including: health information privacy and security under HIPAA/HITECH, state confidentiality laws and 42 C.F.R. Part 2; breach response; implementation of electronic health records; and qualification for meaningful use incentives.
An interview with Reisz was published in the paper and included the following question:
What is the greatest challenge facing organizations when it comes to information security?
"In my experience, the greatest challenge is accurately and thoroughly analyzing and inventorying the types of data, where this data sits and moves, who has access to it and why. An organization cannot secure data that it does not know that it has, where it sits, or who has access to it. To successfully secure its information, an organization must do a thorough inventory of its data which includes identifying (1) the types of data the organization uses and stores; (2) the places where the data sits; (3) which employees and outside vendors have access to such data; and (4) whether or not access to such data is necessary for each employee who has access, and ultimately, whether or not the organization is unnecessarily hoarding data."
