Szykowny Elected as Board Chair of the Greater Columbus Arts Council

Tom Szykowny, a partner in the Columbus office, has been elected as board chair of the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC). Tom previously served as a member of the executive committee.

GCAC, founded in 1973, funds artists and arts organizations and provides programs, events and services of public value that educate and engage all audiences in the Columbus community.

In 2016, GCAC awarded $4,025,958 to 79 nonprofit arts organizations and 203 artists in Columbus. The Art Makes Columbus arts marketing campaign generated nearly 400 online, print and broadcast stories, $9.1 million in publicity and 350 million earned media impressions featuring the arts and artists in Columbus. The Columbus arts Festival had a record year with an estimated 450,000 people experiencing arts and culture on the Scioto Mile.

GCAC is governed by a board of up to 29 trustees. In the past 25 years, more than 130 community members have served in this capacity. Board members are chosen based on their visibility in the community, their experience with cultural and civic organizations and their representation of the diversity in the Columbus community.
