Tom McDonald, a partner in the Vorys Washington, D.C. office and a former U.S Ambassador to Zimbabwe, participated in a Virtual Corporate Meeting for the Council on Foreign relations. Titled "Vaccine Inequality and the Global Economic Recovery," the meeting focused on supply shortages and lackluster distribution rollouts of COVID-19 vaccines which have plagued both developed and developing nations.
As vaccine supply becomes more constrained and virus variants cause greater concern, developed countries are threatening export restrictions and other measures to ensure their populations are vaccinated first. In this meeting, panelists discuss the potential public health and economic repercussions of this “vaccine nationalism.”
