Economic Development Incentives for Expanding Businesses
Our firm has a long history of assisting businesses in securing local, state and federal economic development incentives to support expansion and new construction projects. Our experience spans all industries, from manufacturing companies to service providers, and includes the entire State of Ohio as well as other states. For decades, the firm has been especially active in working with state and local officials to make Ohio a leader in international economic development, including development by Japanese manufacturers and suppliers.
We have established ourselves as the market leader in Ohio. For example, we are incentives counsel to a majority of the 10 largest public companies based in central Ohio.
Our recent engagements in this area include the following, among others:
- We served as lead counsel in connection with one of the largest tax incentives packages in Ohio history, which included precedent-setting enterprise zone tax exemptions, Ohio job creation tax credits, the manufacturing machinery & equipment investment tax credit and a business development grant
- Our attorneys structured a major state and local incentives package to support a service industry client in connection with a significant expansion of its corporate headquarters, including enterprise zone tax exemptions, tax increment financing to support public and private improvements, a municipal cash incentive and various state grants and tax credits
- We assisted some of the largest retailers in the United States in securing incentives to expand their office campuses and distribution center facilities
