Aaron M. Williams

Aaron is a partner in the Vorys Cleveland office and is a member of the litigation and intellectual property groups.  His practice focuses on representing clients in connection with the defense or prosecution of their intellectual property rights, including cases involving patent and trademark infringement, trade secrets, and non-competition agreements. 

Aaron has litigated cases before the American Arbitration Association, state and federal trial courts, the Federal Circuit and the International Trade Commission involving various technologies, including consumer goods and electronics, software and mobile applications, and a number of different mechanical designs, systems and processes. 

Aaron also maintains a broad litigation practice representing public and private companies, as well as individual officers, directors, partners and fiduciaries, in complex business disputes involving securities fraud violations, shareholder derivative actions, business torts and class action defense.                                 

Notable experience includes:

• Representation of manufacturer of automotive battery jump starters in patent infringement lawsuits
• Representation of technology security firm in patent infringement lawsuit
• Representation of a state university in a class action alleging violations of the Sherman Act, Lanham Act and Ohio's Deceptive Trade Practices Act
• Representation of a major brewery in a trademark infringement jury trial against a bottler of root beer branded similarly to the client’s iconic marks
• Representation of public entities and officers and directors thereof in merger strike suits, derivative class actions and other matters involving allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference, fraud and other business torts
• Representation of businesses, financial institutions, and lenders in connection with consumer class actions alleging violations of Ohio's Uniform Commercial Code and Consumer Sales Practices Act

Aaron is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the Kathleen M. O'Malley Inn of Court.

Aaron received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.  He received his B.A. magna cum laude from Dickinson College, where he was Phi Beta Kappa.

Prior to joining Vorys, Aaron served as a law clerk to the Honorable Rebecca B. Connelly of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia.
