Overview

Pete is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the litigation group.  His oil and gas litigation practice focuses on a broad range of issues affecting both operators and landowners, including Ohio’s Dormant Mineral Act, leasing disputes, production and marketing matters and royalty claims, and competing mineral interests, such as conflicts between oil and gas and coal interests. 

Pete also has a significant health care litigation practice, with experience in the areas of long-term care, behavioral health, licensure, regulatory challenges, including CON hearings, as well as health care contracting and billing controversies across all major payor sources. 

Notable experience includes:

  • Defending and prosecuting oil and gas interests of operators and individuals in courts throughout Ohio
  • Successfully negotiating and resolving complex multi-party lease and royalty disputes
  • Defending health care providers in high profile licensure and compliance controversies
  • Advocating for the rights of behavioral health care providers and patients to provide and to receive needed services

Pete received his J.D. with honors from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and his B.S. cum laude from Miami University.

Pete is a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, and the Marcellus Shale Coalition.  He is a graduate of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Short Course on Oil and Gas Law.  He is also a regular presenter on issues affecting litigation practice in Ohio.

Before joining Vorys, Pete spent six years as a private business owner and operator in Cincinnati, Dayton and Northern Kentucky.
