Mendel Inducted into the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel

Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease is pleased to announce that Linda Mendel, of counsel in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the labor and employment group, was inducted into the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC) as a Fellow.

ACEBC, a not-for-profit organization, was formed in recognition of significant legal and social policy issues impacting the regulation and management of pension, retirement, group health, welfare and disability plans.  Induction as a Fellow of this organization is viewed as a national distinction. Each nominee is required to have focused on employee benefits law for at least 20 years and have demonstrated a sustained commitment to public awareness and understanding of benefits laws through such activities as writing, speaking, public policy analysis, public education or public service. Nominees are also required to have provided exceptionally high-quality professional services to clients, the bar and the public.

Mendel was sworn in as a Fellow at ACEBC’s 15th Annual Induction Dinner on October 25, 2014.   Her practice is concentrated in the area of employee benefits.  She works with employers and multi-employer plans on health and welfare benefit plan issues, including employee communications, compliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), tax issues, and vendor contracting.  Mendel is a member of the American Bar Association, where she currently serves as the co-chair of the Welfare Plan and EEOC Issues Subcommittee of the Tax Section.
