5/3/12 Corcoran Quoted in Cincinnati Enquirer Story on Changes to Ohio’s Medicaid Program

Maureen Corcoran, president of Vorys Health Care Advisors, was quoted in a Cincinnati Enquirer story entitled “Big changes coming at Ohio Medicaid.”  The story outlined Ohio’s plan to change Medicaid services by streamlining the system to five statewide health plans and three regions, instead of continuing to use the current system which includes 38 health plans in 10 regions.

The story states:

“Ohio's Medicaid costs of about $4.8 billion this year are nearly one-fifth of the state budget and growing.

Maureen Corcoran, former assistant deputy director of Ohio Medicaid and now president of consultant Vorys Health Care Advisors in Columbus, said Ohio ‘is absolutely at the front edge’ nationally in Medicaid reform.

‘These are roll-up-your-sleeves, hard work kind of initiatives,’ Corcoran said. ‘They’re not going to reduce costs by some huge percentage. They are going to bend the cost curve.’”
