Vorys Adds New Partner to Labor and Employment Group

Barton A. BixenstineVorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease is pleased to welcome Barton A. Bixenstine as a partner in the firm’s Cleveland office. Bixenstine, who has 30 years experience in a wide range of labor and employment law, will join the Vorys’ labor and employment group, which is comprised of nearly 100 attorneys across the firm’s six offices.

Bixenstine specializes in personnel issues, such as contract administration, force reductions, immigration employment law and employment litigation.  Calling upon his knowledge and experience with alternative dispute resolution programs, he will also further strengthen the firm’s employment mediation and arbitration efforts.  Anthony J. O’Malley, managing partner of the firm’s Cleveland office, said that Bixenstine’s background in ADR is just one of his countless strengths.

“Bringing aboard someone with as much experience and proficiency in a variety of labor law areas as Bart is truly remarkable,” O’Malley said.  “As a past chair of the American Arbitration Association’s Labor Advisory Committee, Bart brings with him a wealth of knowledge as to how we can help clients resolve issues outside the courtroom.  We are confident that Bart and his expansive practice will allow us to better serve our clients and positively impact our entire firm.”

Bixenstine is a certified specialist in labor and employment law and a fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.  He has represented public school districts, municipalities and community colleges. He has extensive experience assisting clients with labor issues related to mergers, relocations, workplace investigations, contract administration, hiring and terminations.

Bixenstine received his law degree from the University of Chicago. Prior to that, he earned a Ph.D. in political science and a master’s degree in statistics from Indiana University. He received his bachelor’s degree from Kent State University.
