Garvin Quoted in Technology Transfer Tactics Story Titled “U Minnesota Case Against Gilead Complex, Probably Lengthy”

Michael Garvin, a partner in the Vorys Cleveland office, was quoted in a Technology Transfer Tactics story about a patent infringement lawsuit filed against Gilead Sciences by the University of Minnesota. According to the story, the lawsuit is related to hepatitis drugs.

The story states:

“‘These are invalidity defenses frequently asserted in litigation involving pharmaceutical patents, and it’s not possible to evaluate how strong those defenses are at this point,’ Garvin says.

The court has entered a schedule in the case calling for trial to take place in late 2018, a little more than two years after the case was filed, Garvin says. That length of time to trial is common in patent infringement lawsuits, because they present many complex issues and routinely involve the testimony of several technical experts, he notes.”
