Vorys Welcomes First-Year Associates

Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP announced today that eight first-year associates have joined the firm.  Elizabeth Alexander, Jesse Meade, Drew Menzer and Sarah Spector joined the Columbus office; Daniel Stroh joined the Cincinnati office; Patrick Akers and Karey Werner joined the Cleveland office; and Anne McPherson joined the Washington, D.C. office.

COLUMBUS

Elizabeth Alexander will practice in the litigation group. She recently completed a U.S. District Court clerkship with The Honorable R. Brooke Jackson in Denver, Colorado. Prior to her clerkship, Alexander attended the University of Colorado Law School in Boulder, Colorado. She worked as a judicial extern for The Honorable Timothy Tymkovich during her second year of law school. Alexander received her B.A. summa cum laude from The Ohio State University. During her senior year of college, she served as the captain of Ohio State's varsity women's soccer team and president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board.

Jesse Meade will practice in the labor and employment group.  He recently graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School. Meade was a Vorys summer associate in 2015. He previously worked with The Alliance for a Just Society (now the People's Action Institute), a community organizing non-profit located in Seattle, Washington, the Stark County Prosecutor's Office as a victim's advocate, and as an intern at Kohn, Kohn, & Colapinto LLC (and its non-profit, the National Whistleblower's Center) in Washington, D.C.  Meade received his B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Mount Union.

Drew Menzer will practice in the finance, energy and real estate group.  He recently graduated magna cum laude from The University of Illinois College of Law. He was a Vorys summer associate in 2014 and 2015 at Reese, Pyle, Drake & Meyer in Newark, Ohio.  Menzer received his B.A. from St. John's College.           

Sarah Spector will practice in the litigation group.  She recently graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and a managing editor for the Ohio State Law Journal. Spector was a Vorys summer associate in 2015. She worked as a law clerk extern for Judge Watson in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in the summer of 2014. Spector received her B.A. magna cum laude from The Ohio State University.       

CINCINNATI

Daniel Stroh will practice in the finance, energy and real estate group.  He recently graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. In law school, he served as executive editor of the University of Cincinnati Law Review as well as a structured study group leader helping 1Ls through their first semester of law school. Stroh was a Vorys summer associate in 2015, and worked as a Vorys legal intern from October 2015 – June 2016. He also spent the summer of 2014 as a judicial extern for a magistrate in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Stroh received his B.A. from DePauw University and worked for several years as a project manager before attending law school.

CLEVELAND

Patrick Akers will practice in the litigation group.  Herecently graduated cum laude from the Notre Dame Law School, where he was the executive editor of the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics, and Public Policy. Prior to entering law school, Akers was a communications officer in the United States Air Force. He deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He received his B.A. with distinction and honors from the University of Iowa as well as a M.B.A. from Auburn University.

Karey Werner will practice in the litigation group.  She recently graduated summa cum laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she also became a member of the Order of the Coif. During Werner’s third year of law school, she worked in the Criminal Justice Clinic as a certified legal intern and was an executive articles editor of the Case Western Reserve Law Review. She was also an extern for the Honorable Benita Pearson in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and an intern for Congressman Tim Ryan.  Werner received her B.A. summa cum laude from Kent State University.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Anne McPherson will practice in the finance, energy and real estate group.  She recently graduated from Washington and Lee University School of Law, where she was a senior articles editor for the Journal of Energy, Climate and the Environment. McPherson was a Vorys summer associate in 2014 and 2015. She received her B.A. from Davidson College.  McPherson has lived abroad in Florence, Italy and London, England, where she completed her Grande Diplome at Le Cordon Bleu.
