6/4/08

Ronald “Rocky” A. Robins, Jr., has been named a 2008 Service Partner Award Finalist by the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). The award honors individuals who have had a substantial impact on the organic or acquisition growth of a central Ohio company, the state of Ohio and the overall industry.

Robins, a partner in the corporate and finance group in Columbus and specializes in general corporate law, as well as federal securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital. He has represented underwriters and issuers in numerous initial public offerings, shelf registrations and debt and equity financings, as well as several public companies in securities and merger and acquisition transactions totaling well in excess of $5 billion.

“At a time when existing and potential clients view service and expertise as the most important criteria for selecting lawyers, the ACG recognition of Rocky by his peers is an outstanding compliment for Rocky and for our firm,” said Russell M. Gertmenian, managing partner of Vorys.

In recognizing Robins, the ACG Columbus noted his long-time representation of Scotts Miracle-Gro on behalf of Vorys, including his involvement in the 1995 merger of Scotts and Miracle-Gro, the Scotts Miracle-Gro acquisition of Ortho and the marketing rights of Roundup in 1998, its acquisition of outdoor living retailer Smith & Hawken, and the company’s recapitalization in 2007. The ACG Columbus also noted his representation of several of the firm’s other clients, including Abercrombie & Fitch, AirNet, M/I Homes, MPW, Big Lots and Worthington Industries.

ACG is the largest and oldest international network of middle market professionals involved in corporate growth, corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions for mid to large companies.
