Heather M. Lutz
Ms. Lutz is an associate in the Vorys Cleveland office and a member of the litigation practice group. Her practice includes general business litigation and employment matters, including disputes involving breach of contract, employment discrimination, Family and Medical Leave Act, mortgage fraud, and torts. In addition to having primary responsibility for matters in state and federal courts, her practice includes alternative dispute mechanisms.
Career highlights include:
- Arguing and winning a motion for directed verdict on behalf of a plaintiff in a breach of contract action in state court
- For a financial institution, serving as a member of the national coordinating counsel team defending contested mortgage litigation in multiple states
- Taking primary responsibility for negotiating and obtaining favorable settlements in multiple cases on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants
- Working as part of the team that won an appeal overturning an award of damages in a breach of contract action
Ms. Lutz has made several presentations involving employment law and professionalism.
Ms. Lutz is a member of the Cleveland and Ohio Women’s Bar Associations as well as the American Constitution Society.
Ms. Lutz received her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif. She received a B.A. in Spanish summa cum laude, with Honors and a B.A. in psychology summa cum laude from the University of Toledo.
