Jonathan D. Iten
Mr. Iten is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the technology and intellectual property practice group. He specializes in advising clients on all aspects of technology contracting, including agreements related to software and computer system development and integration, software licensing, software distribution, outsourcing, electronic commerce and telecommunications. Mr. Iten also counsels clients on matters related to copyright and trade secrets. He has an academic background in computer science and worked as a computer programmer and analyst in industrial and academic computing environments, giving him an appreciation of the issues relevant to contracts for complex computer software systems.
Career highlights include:
- Representing multiple retail clients in the negotiation of agreements with electronic commerce web-hosting and fulfillment services providers
- Serving as lead counsel on technology contracting matters for multiple clients, including coordinating and managing the delivery of technology contract services to their information technology groups
- Counseling multiple clients in negotiating their acquisition of company-wide Enterprise Resource Planning systems, with related implementation, systems integration and customization services
- Counseling a major regional health insurance company in negotiating a software development and implementation relationship for the creation of software to support managed care applications
- Advising a Fortune 500 retail client in connection with negotiations for the acquisition, implementation and customization of a software system for human resources management
- Serving as counsel to a national trade association in negotiating for the development, operation, and maintenance of a national database of retail coupon-redeeming locations
- Representing numerous retail clients in the negotiation of general purpose and private label credit card agreements
- Representing technology vendor clients in licensing products, establishing distribution channels, and protecting intellectual property resulting from their development efforts
- Advising public libraries throughout Ohio on Ohio library law issues
- Counseling a statewide trade association of public libraries
Mr. Iten is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association.
Mr. Iten received his J.D. from Stanford Law School where he was an Article Editor for the Journal of International Law. He received his B.A. magna cum laude from Bowling Green State University.
