Collegiality and Teamwork

Vorys is a special place to practice law.  Since our founding in 1909, we have been committed to an ethic of collegiality, teamwork, and excellence in serving the needs of our clients.  Clients do not “belong” to individual lawyers; they are clients of the firm.  We draw on the skills and substantive expertise of all of our professionals in a variety of practice areas in order to provide the best possible service to our clients.  This team-oriented approach not only contributes to excellence and efficiency in our legal work, but also to professional satisfaction and strong camaraderie among our lawyers.

Our culture also reinforces the respect we have for our associates by giving them substantial responsibilities, close working relationships with clients and partners, state-of-the-art support, and a long-term commitment to their professional development.  In short, we try to develop in each of our associates the skills necessary to become a partner in our firm.

In addition to our longstanding culture of collegiality and mutual respect, we have created various mentoring and professional development programs to ensure that our lawyers receive every opportunity to achieve personal growth, career satisfaction, and professional success.  All associates are paired with a partner mentor.  Pairs meet formally and informally to develop a strategy for ensuring an associate’s training, development, and evaluation.  In addition, informal mentoring relationships and an “open door” atmosphere are hallmarks of the Vorys work environment.

The result of our unique combination of sophisticated practice areas and a team-oriented culture is a group of associates who are excited about the firm and their developing practices.
