George Corey Scholarship Application
The Ohio legal community said goodbye to one of its most beloved members in 2005, George Nassif Corey. George was born in Charleston, West Virginia, in 1947, the son of Lebanese immigrants. A 1969 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Duke University and a 1973 graduate of Harvard Law School, George joined Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP after graduation and became a partner in 1980, specializing in tax and probate law. During his career, he served in many leadership positions in the law firm, including Chairman of the Hiring Committee for many years. George was the "quintessential professional." In addition to being a member in the Columbus, Ohio and American Bar Associations, George was designated a "Best Lawyer in America."
George was a talented attorney who was respected and admired by his colleagues and clients alike for his legal ability, his judgment, professionalism and outstanding sense of humor and was passionate about recruiting the "best and brightest" for the Vorys firm from diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences. This commitment to diversity has contributed significantly to Vorys' reputation as a leading firm of lawyers united by a commitment to collegiality and professionalism.
