Stephen R. Buchenroth
Mr. Buchenroth is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the commercial and real estate group. He concentrates his practice in all areas of commercial real estate law and franchise law. His expertise includes development, financing, leasing, foreclosures, construction, opinion practice and zoning, as well as franchising, where he represents both franchisors and franchisees.
Career highlights include:
- Serving as President of the Columbus Bar Association from 1992-1993
- Receiving the Columbus Bar Association’s Bar Service medal in 2000, the highest award bestowed by the Association
- Election into the American College of Real Estate Lawyers in 1986
- Receipt of the Ohio State Bar Association Robert L. Hauser Memorial Award, in 2011, for outstanding achievements, contributions and leadership in the practice of real estate law.
- Serving as Chairman of the Real Property Section of the Ohio State Bar Association from 2003-2005
- Serving as Chairman of the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education from 1999-2000
- Appointment in 2006 by the Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation
- Election as Chairman of the Board of Wittenberg University in 2008
- Serving as a member of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Real Property Specialty Board, which administers the certification of Ohio lawyers in Ohio in the fields of (i) business, commercial and industrial real estate law, and (ii) residential real estate law
- Testifying frequently before the Ohio legislature on real estate related legislation and playing a significant role in the enactment of numerous laws affecting real estate law
Mr. Buchenroth is a member of the American Bar Association, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association.
Mr. Buchenroth is a frequent lecturer on a variety of topics related to real estate law, mortgage foreclosure, and franchising. He has spoken to numerous audiences, including the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising, the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association, The American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the International Franchise Association, The Ohio State University, and Capital University.
Mr. Buchenroth received his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and his B.A. cum laude from Wittenberg University where he was Pi Sigma Kappa.
