Michael J. Bronson
Mr. Bronson is a partner in the Vorys Cincinnati office and a member of the litigation group. He practices in general litigation with particular experience defending corporations in complex commercial litigation, arbitration, and False Claims Act cases. He also has significant experience in government contracts litigation, class actions, health care fraud and abuse, and environmental litigation.
Career highlights include:
- Trial counsel for client that won a directed verdict after a five week qui tam False Claims Act jury trial
- Tried commercial and business cases to successful verdicts
- Obtained summary judgment on fraud and retaliation claims seeking more than $1.2 billion relating to NASA Space Shuttle Program
- Defeated United States’ claims of Truth in Negotiations Act and contract violations premised on allegations of illegal government contracting
- Represented client successfully in international arbitration involving claims of over $50 million
- Obtained dismissal of numerous False Claims Act cases prior to discovery
- Represented clients successfully in federal and state courts of appeals
- Successfully represented client in a unanimous United States Supreme Court decision, Allison Engine Co., Inc. v. United States ex rel. Sanders, narrowing the scope of liability under the federal False Claims Act
Mr. Bronson is a member of the Warren County Bar Association and the Cincinnati Bar Association, where he serves on the Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee and the Admissions & Legal Education Committee. Mr. Bronson also serves as appointed counsel in the Pro Bono Mediation Program for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
Mr. Bronson has spoken on the False Claims Act and healthcare compliance to the Ohio Hospital Association and the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He has also served as Chair and Moderator of the fraud and False Claims Act panel for the Cincinnati Bar Association Annual Health Care Law Seminar.
Mr. Bronson received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School where he was Managing Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. He received his B.A. magna cum laude from Denison University where he was Phi Beta Kappa.
Before joining Vorys, Mr. Bronson clerked for the Honorable Terrence W. Boyle, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
