Erik B. Bond
Mr. Bond is an associate in the Vorys Cincinnati office and a member of the litigation group. Mr. Bond has broad expertise litigating commercial cases, including disputes centering on insurance and reinsurance contracts, antitrust, intellectual property, and commercial torts. His litigation experience includes securing favorable early resolution of cases through strategic use of motion practice, preparing fact and expert witnesses, taking and defending depositions, trial and successful appeals, and conducting oral argument.
Career highlights include:
- Recovery of many millions of dollars in insurance proceeds for a variety of corporate clients. Experience successfully resolving complex insurance disputes, including coverage claims for bodily injury, construction defects, directors & officers liability, employment practices liability, environmental cleanup, consumer privacy, and a variety of class actions. Expertise with responding effectively to an insurer’s denial of the duty to defend and duty to indemnify, securing coverage for settlements under various approaches to allocation, and advising on insurance issues in bankruptcy proceedings.
- Lead counsel in successful prosecution of financial institution’s claims against major airline regarding leased aircraft; took fact and 30(b)(6) depositions establishing liability; oversaw briefing securing summary judgment.
- Represented solar energy manufacturer in antitrust and contract action over a four billion dollar contract; architect of antitrust theories under foreign and domestic law.
- Represented software manufacturer in trade secret action against competitor. Supervised briefing securing summary judgment on Sherman Act claims.
- Lead counsel in successful pro bono defense of million-dollar libel and commercial tort action.
Mr. Bond received his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and his B.Mus. from The Cleveland Institute of Music.
