Mr. Treier is a partner in the Vorys Akron office and a member of the corporate and finance group.  His practice focuses primarily on business transactions and representation of public companies.  He regularly counsels both public and private companies on matters of corporate governance, including fiduciary and organizational concerns, in addition to their transactional and contractual matters. Mr. Treier is also experienced in nonprofit organization formation and operation and financial institution regulatory matters.

Career highlights include:

• Serving as lead outside counsel in various public company merger transactions
• Negotiating and documenting many private company purchase and sales transactions
• Serving as outside general counsel in advising public companies in regard to various institutional and activist shareholder matters

Mr. Treier is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Akron Bar Association.

Mr. Treier has lectured on various topics, including limited liability corporations, corporate governance, corporate ethical issues and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

Mr. Treier received his J.D. cum laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law where he was a member and Editor of the Case Western Reserve Law Review.  He received his B.S. magna cum laude from Bowling Green State University.

Mr. Treier served as a federal judicial clerk for the Honorable Leroy J. Contie, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
