John L. Chaney

Columbus Office

Mr. Chaney is an associate in the Vorys Columbus office where his litigation practice focuses primarily in commercial litigation.  Mr. Chaney also has experience in constitutional, securities and antitrust litigation.

His notable experience includes:

  • Participating in the successful defense of a major transportation company in an action alleging securities fraud claims
  • Playing a large role in securing the entire satisfaction of a multimillion dollar debt owed to a corporate client, despite the debtor's denial of liability and ability to pay
  • Working extensively in challenging the constitutionality of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002, including preparing for and assisting in the depositions of several United States senators and congressmen
  • Successfully defending a religious university against claims objecting to the university's participation in government volunteer programs

Mr. Chaney received his J.D. with honors from The Ohio State University College of Law where he was the Associate Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal and a member of the Order of the Coif.  He received his B.S. from The Ohio State University.
