Tiffany Strelow Cobb

Columbus Office

Ms. Cobb is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and practices in the commercial group with an emphasis in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights.  She represents unsecured creditors, secured creditors, trustees, and creditors’ committees in chapter 11 reorganization cases, chapter 7 cases and in related litigation on a national basis. She serves clients in complex contested matters and adversary proceedings, including the defense and prosecution of fraudulent transfer, preference and nondischargeability actions.  In addition, Ms. Cobb has represented secured lenders and creditors in non-bankruptcy, commercial matters, ranging from work outs to foreclosures.

Career highlights include:

  • On behalf of bank defendants, successfully rebutted the presumption of insolvency at trial in a multi-million dollar preference action in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, and later obtained affirming decision from the United States District Court for the District of Delaware in American Classic Voyages Co. v. JP Morgan Chase Bank (In re American Classic Voyages Co.), Civil Action No. 07-352-JJF, 2008 WL 792773 (D. Del. March 25, 2008)

  • Obtained favorable decision from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Tennessee dismissing remaining claims on motion to dismiss, and later received decision by the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee affirming bankruptcy court dismissal of new claims in Plaintiff’s amended complaint and concluding that the doctrine of res judicata further required the dismissal of such claims in Kaye v. Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company (In re Murray, Inc.), Case No. 3:07-00336, 2008 WL 821521 (M.D. Tenn. March 27, 2008)

  • On behalf of a chapter 7 trustee, secured the denial of an individual debtor’s discharge and avoided multiple transfers

  • Successfully represented a chapter 7 trustee on appeal

Ms. Cobb is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Columbus Bar Association.

Ms. Cobb has spoken at bankruptcy related seminars, most recently on the topic of avoidance actions.

Ms. Cobb received her J.D. from Washington University School of Law and her B.A. with highest honors from Principia College.
