Maureen P. Tracey
Cleveland Office
Ms. Tracey is an associate in the Vorys Cleveland office and a member of the litigation group. Her practice consists of general business litigation, with an emphasis on First Amendment, media and advertising law, and copyright and trademark litigation. Ms. Tracey has litigated a number of high-profile First Amendment cases, and has handled all varieties of public records issues, defamation and invasion of privacy actions, and prebroadcast/prepublication reviews. She also has extensive experience with appeals in both state and federal courts.
Her notable experience includes:
- Successfully defending a talk radio station in a high profile defamation action filed by a professional football player
- Litigating a First Amendment/retaliation action against the mayor of large Ohio city for issuing edict prohibting city employees from speaking with the local newspaper
- Defending a national family planning organization in two high-profile actions involving patients' constitutional right of privacy
- Securing media access to search warrants in a highly publicized murder investigation in a city in California
Ms. Tracey is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cincinnati Bar Association.
Ms. Tracey has given seminar presentations on topics including electronic media law, invasion of privacy torts, defamation and advertising law.
Ms. Tracey received her J.D. magna cum laude from The Ohio State University where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and Research Editor for the Ohio State Law Journal. Ms. Tracey graduated cum laude from Miami University.
