David L. Hoeffel

Columbus Office

Mr. Hoeffel is an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of both the corporate and finance group and the government relations group. He advises and assists for-profit and not-for-profit entities of all sizes in a variety of general business matters, including entity formation, mergers and acquisitions, contracts and agreements, and corporate governance activities. He also has significant experience in government relations and administrative law, with an emphasis on legislative and executive agency representation, campaign finance, ethics and election law, government contract procurement and hearings, and matters before various regulatory agencies and boards.

His notable experience includes:

  • Assisting in securing the passage of multiple pieces of legislation benefiting public and private sector clients
  • Successfully defending several clients in matters before the Ohio Elections Commission
  • Coordinating activities of a 70-member team in a challenge to a statewide initiative proposal

Mr. Hoeffel is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association.

Mr. Hoeffel received his J.D. from Capital University Law School summa cum laude where he was a member of the Order of the Curia. He served on the Capital University Law Review as Associate Editor. He received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame cum laude. Mr. Hoeffel also spent a semester abroad at King’s College in London.

Before joining Vorys, Mr. Hoeffel served as a Policy Analyst and Legislative Liaison for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. He also worked as a law clerk for the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office, a legislative aide for the Ohio House of Representatives, and a member of the Ohio Legislative Service Commission.
