Alexandra T. Schimmer
Columbus Office
Ms. Schimmer is an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the litigation practice group where she litigates in both trial and appellate courts. She represents major corporations, public institutions, and non-profits in federal and state cases involving commercial and contract disputes, data privacy and computer data breaches, federal and state constitutional issues, and securities law, among other issues. She maintains an active appellate practice and has argued cases before the federal and state courts of appeals and also advises clients in legislative and regulatory matters that implicate complex statutory and constitutional issues.
Her notable experiences include:
- Successfully representing a major state university in the Supreme Court of Ohio in connection with a $20 million public contract
- Successfully defending numerous class actions brought in federal and state courts throughout the country, arising from computer data breach incidents
Ms. Schimmer is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association.
Ms. Schimmer received her J.D. from the Yale Law School where she served as Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal and Editor of the Yale Journal of International Law. She also served as a Coker Fellow. Ms. Schimmer also studied in England as a Fulbright Fellow where she received an M. Phil. from Cambridge University. She received her A.B. summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University.
Ms. Schimmer served as a law clerk to the Honorable R. Guy Cole, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Honorable Sidney H. Stein of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
